Luz Roth, born in Colombia, has over thirty years of experience as a consultant to bilingual educators throughout the USA and internationally, including Spain and Central and South America. As a curriculum and instruction specialist, Luz designed new professional development programs for teachers of second language learners. Working with the Success for All project at Johns Hopkins University, Luz created Spanish curriculum and assessment materials. Luz provides highly practical consultation, curriculum evaluation, workshops, and more through Global Vida, a company she co-founded with Viviana Hall. Her expertise enables district- and school-wide comprehensive needs assessments, guiding the identification, placement, curriculum development, instruction, assessment, reclassification, and monitoring of bilingual learning students. Luz spearheads the design and delivery of presentations for bilingual educators. With a hands-on approach, she utilizes a Make-n-Take strategy to equip participants as leaders in bilingual environments.

Luz and her co-founder, Viviana Hall, are writing their first book, ¿Hacia dónde va?, which teaches Spanish onomatopoeias and showcases the diverse cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.

¿Hacia dónde va?

In this book, bilingual education experts Viviana Hall and Luz Roth take readers on the journey of an adventurous Crab and a homebody Hare. Spanish-speakers and Spanish-learners alike will discover fun Spanish onomatopoeias like CATAPLUM and TATARA while following the characters through the unique and vibrant culture of Mexico. Perfect for the home or the classroom, this book helps kids expand their figurative language skills while teaching them to always be curious about what they don’t understand.
